Power Up Your Home & Save: Understanding the New Solar Battery Rebate

• Battery Size: Eligible systems must range from 5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) to 100 kWh in nominal capacity. The discount applies to up to 50 kWh of usable capacity. Since most house batteries are around 10-14kWh, you almost certainly qualify. 
• Eligible Battery Systems: The battery system must meet Australian standard AS/NZS 5139:2019 and be listed on the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved batteries list. Of course, Hextra only supplies fully accredited batteries.
• Solar PV: You must have an existing or new solar photovoltaic (PV) system at your premises. Batteries that only store energy from the grid are not eligible. We can install a new PV system or retrofit a battery to an existing one. 
• Installation Date: The battery system must be installed on or after July 1, 2025.
• Installer Accreditation: The installation must be done by a person accredited for battery installations by Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA). Hextra is not only fully accredited by SAA, we are also Level 2 qualified and certified by the Clean Energy Council of Australia.
• On-Grid vs. Off-Grid: Both on-grid (connected to the electricity grid) and off-grid systems are eligible. 
• Premises Definition: A “premises” includes structures, buildings, or places (excluding vehicles).

Only for separate installations for separate premises. Support is provided for one battery system at a single premises and only for the first-time installation, addition, or replacement.

The discount amount is based on the battery’s usable capacity (the larger the system, the greater the discount) and will decrease gradually until 2030.
